Mix with 2-10 ounces of water and stir. Creatine HCl dissolves completely in a small amount of liquid, so a shot glass works. Take it daily, with or without exercise. Studies on creatine have found that taking creatine after training may be slightly better for lean mass, but the most important factor is consistency, not time of day.[1] The label suggests one to two scoops a day. Many people take two to four, scaled to body size. Larger people need more, smaller people need less.
Note on the taste
It is sour. That’s the hydrochloride itself rather than anything added or wrong with the product. Two things you can do to combat that if you’d like a more neutral taste:
- Split it. Take part of it in the morning and the rest later. Your muscle is filling a reservoir over weeks, so it doesn’t really make a difference whether it arrived in one sitting or two.
- Mix it into something flavored. Juice, an electrolyte drink, anything with its own taste. Acidic drinks are fine.
